How to achieve a wider field of view without a wider lens

I was asked by David Oh of Taproll, to create a technical tutorial for the Taproll blog. The subject I chose is mutli-image stitching. “24mm is generally regarded as the longest usable focal length for capturing wide interior views. While there is certainly spatial distortion, it strikes the balance between seeing enough of the space while retaining detail. The problem is that it is often still not wide enough, which is why manufacturers have developed lenses as wide as 12mm for full-frame sensors.”

AZASMP Presents: Architectural Photography

I am looking forward to speaking with fellow architectural photographers, Mark Boisclair and Jim Christy at Thursday’s ASMP Architectural Seminar. The event will be hosted by Patrick Darby (Tonic Photo Studios at R&R Images), who happens to be one of Arizon’a finest architectural photographers. Although the meeting is not a how-to seminar, there will be time for some Q&A. The topics will include planning & scouting, technical & creative challenges, and personal style & approach. We hope to see you there!

Baxter Imaging LLC Trademark

I worked with graphic designer, Christopher Crosby to design a long-awaited trademark for my company. After several unsuccessful attempts over the years to create my own logo, I finally hired a professional. Thanks Christopher!

Water park at the Princess

I arrived at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess at 6am to photograph the water park, before all of the kiddies woke up. The sun was coming from the northeast, preventing any direct light on the structure, so I added my own sunlight.

Modern Design by Morgan Kofron

I worked with Valley Designer, Morgan Kofron many years ago. I recently had the opportunity to photograph her custom-designed modern residence. We spent several hours staging every last detail in the shot. To add to the fun, this was my first photo session using my iPhone to monitor and control my camera remotely.

Innovative Wine Cellar Designs

I recently worked with Sandy Horwitz of Innovative Wine Cellar Designs, at a home in DC Ranch. This wine cellar was a challenge to capture, due to space limitations. The final image is a result of stitching multiple vertical shot together in order to show the full width of the space.
