Infiniti Dealership

This image of the Infiniti Dealership was the first opportunity I’ve had to use my telescopic mast at evening, along with my lighting equipment. The stability of the unit is a fair trade off for the weight, resulting in a tack sharp image during a relatively long exposure.

60ft Telescopic Mast

I had my first assignment using my new 60ft telescopic mast. It’s rather heavy, but equally stable which is a comfort when sending up expensive camera equipment. Unlike a manlift, this gear allows for placement in relatively small areas. I look forward to seeing things from a different perspective this year.

Image of the Week on NAPP website

This recent shot was just selected as “Image of the Week” on the NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals) website. Chris Main, Managing Editor of Photoshop User Magazine informed me that the shot may be selected for publication in February. We’ll see – there are a lot of talented members of NAPP.

NEW! Low-elevation aerial photography

I am pleased to announce that Baxter Imaging LLC is now offering low-elevation aerial photography, with the same standard of excellence as our ground-based architectural work. I prefer to shoot most of my images from ground-level, but there are certainly times where an elevated perspective is essential to capturing the surrounds views. This new system has a small footprint and extends up to 60 feet high, which will make it useful for both interior, exterior, residential, commercial, and industrial applications.

Modern Desert Estate

I finally caught a break in the weather, to photograph this modern desert estate in North Scottsdale. It was an early morning capture (5am) as opposed to the standard evening time. This shot was actually a late discovery, that I saw after finishing the main image. I had just enough time to capture it before the sun came up.

2011 Festival of Trees for PCH

I was asked to participate in the annual Festival of Trees, by photographing the designer Christmas Trees that will be auctioned off to benefit Phoenix Children’s Hospital. This is the second year I got to see some amazing work of our Valley’s designers up close.

Membership into BIPP accepted

On November 22nd, I was informed that my portfolio assessment for BIPP (British Institute of Professional Photographers) was awarded the Associateship level of membership, making me one of three architectural photographers in the country to have this credential. It was an exciting process, as it required something more than a membership fee. In a couple of years I plan to submit my work for a Fellowship level of membership.

Holiday Light Show at the Princess

I worked with assistant/photographer Kim Perina to capture a couple of images of the giant Christmas tree display at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess. As with most dusk shots, there was a lot of set up and a lot of waiting for the perfect light, but the resulting color of the evening sky adds so much to the image. The impressive light (and sound) show will run through January.

Creativa Portfolio Speed-Dating

I had the opportunity, along with 30 of the Valley’s best commercial photographers, to participate in Creativa’s Portfolio Speed-Dating event at the Duce. It was a series of lighting rounds, as we each had 5 minutes to make an impression on some of the biggest Ad Agencies and Design Firms in Arizona. I showed more than just my architectural work, including the image below from Durant’s. Hopefully they will remember me. Time will tell.

Luster Construction at Silverleaf

I worked with Tanner Luster, Principal of Luster Construction, for a return shoot to Silverleaf. His project is nearing completion so we capture additional images for an upcoming LUXE ad. The challenge to this shot was lighting the interior, without having access to the residence. I learned a new trick – shoot a light through the window.
